A group of twelve Senior College students joined mixed groups to compete in a range of complex and engaging physical and mental challenges as part of the Ghurka Challenge.

The event on 21 May was part of a broader initiative by charity Gurkhas Australia to raise funds to help rebuild the homes of Gurkha veterans which were destroyed in the Nepal earthquake in 2015. It saw student groups work with elite troops from the Royal Gurkha Rifles and the Australian Army on a series of challenges designed to develop their teamwork and leadership skills.

A spirit of adventure and problem-solving was evident throughout, as students from different schools contributed and learned from each other at the challenge, held at St Joseph's College Hunters Hill. 韩国AV students held their own throughout the challenge. Our team enjoyed the unique opportunity of a reflection session with Gurkha soldiers, providing an insight into the life of the Nepalese people.

A post-challenge dinner, cooked by the Gurkhas, included memorable speeches from the British High Commissioner, the former Chief of Australian Army and a British Gurkha rifleman.
