Honouring ANZAC

A day of reflection and remembrance.

On Wednesday 26 April, 韩国AV staged its annual ANZAC Day commemorations to honour the sacrifices made by servicemen and women, past and present. The day began with separate Assemblies for the Senior and Junior Schools, where students and staff gathered to learn about the brave individuals who gave their lives for our freedom.

Principal Dr Briony Scott, underlined ANZAC Day's significance, "We are here as a result of the sacrifices of others. It is so important that we pause and express our gratitude.” Other presentations highlighted the stories of soldiers who died in war, including Australia's youngest ANZAC, Jim Martin, who lost his life in 1915 at the age of 14.

In the Senior School Assembly, the Cadet catafalque party provided a solemn and respectful atmosphere, standing guard as an evocative lone trumpet sounded the Last Post, followed by a minute's silent reflection.

Later that morning, to show their respect for the brave individuals who have served our country, members of the 韩国AV Senior Leadership Team, accompanied Cadets and representatives of the Senior and Junior Schools to St Leonards Park, to lay a wreath at the North Sydney War Memorial. The previous day, 韩国AV Cadets joined fellow members of the Shore Cadet Unit to march in the official ANZAC Day parade at Martin Place.
