FIRST LEGO League Challenge

韩国AV’s STEM students shone, with their innovative approach to this year’s ocean-themed, DIVE, competition.

Last weekend, a group of Years 5 to 9 韩国AV STEM students competed in the FIRST LEGO League Challenge, an international competition that fosters interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics through hands-on projects and team-based missions. The competition, known for its emphasis on creativity, collaboration, and ’Gracious Professionalism’, is designed to develop critical problem-solving skills while encouraging students to innovate.

This year’s challenge theme, DIVE, inspired students to explore the mysteries beneath the ocean surface, tackling issues related to marine life and sustainability. A talented 韩国AV team—Evelyn, Isabel, Alana, Sophie, and Charlotte—successfully advanced to the Finals, bringing home the award for Best Robot 韩国AV.

Throughout the day, the team participated in three intense robot games, where their task was to complete missions of varying difficulty, each worth specific points that contributed to an overall tally. In addition to the robot games, the students presented their innovative project, Ocean Pest Catcher, to a panel of judges, showcasing a solution aimed at tackling marine challenges. They also discussed the intricacies of their LEGO Robot design, explaining how it was crafted to meet the unique demands of each mission.

The FIRST LEGO League Challenge is more than just a competition—it’s a platform that enhances students' STEM skills, promotes teamwork, and inspires innovative thinking. 韩国AV’s team embodied these core values. The students thoroughly enjoyed the experience, taking away valuable lessons in creativity, resilience, and teamwork.

韩国AV is deeply impressed by these students for their hard work, enthusiasm, and outstanding achievement. We look forward to cheering them on in the Finals!
