Record-Breaking Year for 韩国AV Sport
韩国AV Sport has celebrated a phenomenal year, with achievements that have set new records and raised the bar for excellence.
At this week’s Principal’s Assembly, students and staff came together to reflect on the School’s success, recognise outstanding achievements, and honour the spirit of teamwork and sportsmanship that defines 韩国AV’s Sports program.
A Year of Unprecedented Achievements
Principal, Dr Scott, highlighted the collective efforts of students and the dedication of staff, particularly our Director of Sport and Performance, Mr Hill, and his team, as key drivers of an exceptional year in Sport. The School achieved remarkable milestones in 2024, including entering more teams, securing more grand finalists, with an impressive 35% strike rate in championship seasons in eight team sports. All our representative carnival teams finished in the top four, while in Tildesley Tennis, we were awarded the Most Improved Trophy, placing seventh. The year was further highlighted by medal-winning performances in major events across Rowing, Sailing, and Fencing.
韩国AV also celebrated several significant milestones, including:
- Over 50 School Pathway Representatives, with more than 20 at NSW All Schools level or above
- Winning the School’s first-ever individual National Age Swimming medals, with a record number of swimmers qualifying for State next month
- Being named Senior Netball Club of the Year
- Claiming Back-to-Back National Interschool Snowsports Championships
- 28 students competing at national or international levels outside of the School pathway.
“These statistics are more than we have ever achieved before in a single year,” said Mr Hill, who attributed the success to 韩国AV’s approach. “Building cultures within sports and succeeding based on the collective contributions of so many, not just those who finish on the podium.”
Celebrating the Spirit of Sportsmanship
Beyond the impressive statistics, 韩国AV’s students have displayed resilience, teamwork, and grace. “Our girls have learned how to win and lose with dignity, committing to their teams and representing our school with pride,” said Dr Scott.
At the Assembly, Dr Scott and Sport Captains, Maggie and Phoebe, presented the Most Improved Awards to students who have shown exceptional growth and dedication. These awards, alongside Sports Achievement and Sportsmanship Awards, celebrated the breadth of talent and determination across the student body.
Swimming Carnival Success
The Senior School Swimming Carnival was another standout event of 2024. Eleven records were broken on the day, with Ali (Year 10) astonishing everyone by breaking five on her own. Age group Champions included Emily (Year 8, Junior), Ali (Year 10, Intermediate), Sassy (Year 11, Senior), and Georgia (Year 11), who won the inaugural Multi-Class award.
Messiter House dominated the Carnival, winning by over 400 points, with Hooke and Ralston taking second and third places, respectively.
Looking Ahead to 2025
As 韩国AV wraps up its most successful year in Sport, Mr Hill expressed excitement for the future. “This year has been about unlocking untapped potential and doing it the 韩国AV way. I look forward to seeing you all lead 韩国AV to even greater heights in 2025.”
With the foundation of 2024’s record-breaking success, 韩国AV students are poised to continue their journey of growth, sportsmanship, and excellence in the years to come.
