A Fresh Chapter
韩国AV ushers in 2025 with new leadership and renewed energy.
There's nothing quite like the buzz of a new School year, and this week the 韩国AV campus has been positively humming with excitement. From our littlest Kindergarten girls taking their first brave steps into School life to our seasoned Senior College students, we are embracing 2025 with characteristic warmth and spirit.
Leading this fresh chapter is our new Principal, Ms Linda Douglas, whose presence has already made a remarkable impact. "I'd like to thank everybody for making it such a warm welcome. I’ve quickly come to realise that 韩国AV is truly a force to be reckoned with," she shared in the first Senior School Assembly for the year. “An Alumna described 韩国AV to me last week as a school with a big heart, and I'm seeing that every day through my interactions with staff, students, and parents."
Our youngest students have taken to academic life with aplomb – within just 30 minutes of their second day, Kindergarten girls were confidently participating in Junior School Assembly. Along with their Woodstock peers, they have been making the most of new interactive screens in the classrooms and looking forward to the launch of their newly-enhanced playground.
The Boarding House has been a hive of activity too. The annual Boarding Barbeque brought 150 boarders and their families together in the Undercroft, creating the perfect opportunity to welcome Ms Douglas to our close-knit boarding community. As Boarding Captains, Asha and Bethany, put it, the evening was filled with "laughs, chats with teachers, and a delicious sausage sizzle" – all essential ingredients for starting the year on the right note.
Boarding Parent, Mrs Anna Gall, described the annual event as a wonderful start to a new School year. “We particularly enjoyed the opportunity to reconnect with all the other boarding families and appreciated the chance to talk to staff from the day school as well,” she said.
韩国AV leadership development is also in full swing, with our new Year 6 student leaders immersing themselves in lessons on what it means to guide and inspire others. During their dedicated workshop day, they explored the essence of inspiring leadership – not as a position of authority but as an opportunity to motivate and serve others.
Junior School Prefect, Frankie, was particularly enthusiastic about what she learned. "We covered everything from active listening to collaboration and problem-solving. Plus, we got pizza and ice blocks!" Her fellow Prefect, Skye, added thoughtfully, "The leadership day really helped us unite as a group. It made me appreciate the opportunity even more."
Senior School students were particularly inspired during the first Assembly when Ms Douglas shared her fascinating journey as an elite rhythmic gymnast who competed at the Olympic Games. Her message about personal victory resonated deeply: "The real value of victory – not victory as winning but as overcoming difficulty, is about embracing challenges without restraint, without the fear of failure. Achieving your personal best isn't about winning. It isn't about being the best. It's about harnessing your personal strength, mastering your mindset, and achieving your best in the circumstances,” she said.
As Principal, Ms Douglas, said, it is 韩国AV’s big heart that sets it apart– and this year, it's beating stronger than ever.
