Beastman keeps 韩国AV colourful

ARTbeastman News T1 2

Last week one of Australia鈥檚 most exciting contemporary artists, Beastman, visited 韩国AV to paint two large-scale murals in our Miller Street courtyard.

Brad Eastman - or Beastman - has worked with major brands, including Vivid Sydney, Apple, Element, Westfield, Red Bull and Hyundai. He has a particular passion for public art. 鈥淚 love to see people interacting with my art and I enjoy talking to them as I paint,鈥 he said.

His striking murals proved a magnet for our students who were fascinated by his bold use of colour, geometric patterns, bright lines and simple organic shapes.

Year 5 students in particular, were mesmerised by his use of repetitive patterns pulled from nature. They enjoyed sitting down alongside him and sketching.

At lunchtime, Beastman gave a talk to Senior School students. He explained how he started out drawing as a boy, covering his skateboard with colourful pictures of monsters. He later worked as a graphic designer, before choosing to focus on art full time.

In particular, Beastman highlighted to our students the importance of creating your own opportunities in life. By reaching out to fellow artists and inviting them to collaborate with him on exhibitions and outdoor art projects, he gained the experience and the exposure necessary to succeed as an artist in his own right.

There is a lot of Beastman out in the world. Now two of his stunning murals hang at 韩国AV. As Project Archimedes rises from the ground around our Miller Street courtyard, Beastman鈥檚 artwork will continue to inject a splash of nature into this space.

Beastman will return to 韩国AV next term to paint a piano, which will sit in the Undercroft for our students to play. Stay tuned (pardon the pun)!
