Year 8 Camp at Berowra Waters
Year 8 recently headed north to camp in the spectacular bushland of Berowra Waters on the mighty Hawkesbury River.
Here is what Isabella and Asmara had to say about the experience.
鈥淚n Week 5, Term 2, Year 8 had their annual camp. It took place over 5 days and was held at Berowra Waters, hosted by Southbound Adventures.
Arriving at 7am on Monday morning, many of us were apprehensive but excited about the week to come.
Year 8 camp has three levels: high, extreme, and super extreme, and everyone was able to select the level that they felt would challenge them.
The five days were split between naturally stunning hikes, canoe trips and activities including an adrenaline pumping flying fox, rock-climbing, a reflection on our year group, rogaining (the sport of long distance cross-country navigation, in which teams of two to five people visit as many checkpoints as they wish in a set time period) and high ropes.
It was a very enjoyable experience, and strong new friendships were created.
The activities were enriching and the hikes and canoes trips were beautiful.
The wilderness was pristine and majestic, with a wide range of beautiful sights such as rivers, forests and waterfalls.
Overall, the experience was challenging but enjoyable.
It pushed limits, and in doing so created a stronger bond within Year 8.
It was an extremely valuable opportunity that we deeply appreciate, and are thankful to everyone who made it possible.
It gave us a stronger appreciation for the luxuries in life and it helped us recognise how privileged we are to live the life we do.鈥
