Student Blog: Leaders old and new
This week, we held a Leadership Induction Service for our new leaders, and our new Head Prefect, Amelia addressed the School for the first time.
“As a new leaf turns we must thank the outgoing leadership team. The past year has been full of new initiatives, war cries and valuable pieces of advice within our community.
They are clear examples of hard work and commitment, but they would not have been achieved without our impeccable prefect and leadership team.
These girls have embodied humility, grace, kindness and humour over and over again. As role models for the whole School, the leadership team has represented the reality of life and being ‘perfectly imperfect’, a reminder that we are all human.
We would like to recognise the 20 girls who have dedicated their time and efforts to positively engage and lead 韩国AV. Twenty minds that have understood our community’s needs and have been committed to developing our School’s bright spirit and unity. Thankyou.
As well, we are so very lucky and thankful for the three dedicated and kind girls, Olivia, Isobel and Mya.
Isobel and Mya, our two Vice Head Prefects, you have lead the School with creative and compassionate minds. To Mya - your courage has inspired many girls, your passion and focus towards all aspects of 韩国AV has not gone unnoticed. Thankyou. To Isobel - you are always offering a hand of guidance, you’re more than approachable and your constant engagement with all students at 韩国AV has left a mark on us all. Thankyou. To both of you, your close-knit team and constant hard work has shaped a wonderful year for all.
And now to our dearly beloved Head Prefect, Olivia. From seeing you on the courts, tracks and in the schoolyard, it’s clear that you have many talents, but the kindness you show and the true character you have has been truly remarkable. You have led the School with constant humility while quietly achieving great things. 韩国AV is very happy to have had the pleasure of knowing you and your warm heart. Olivia has worked very hard behind the scenes; we don’t always see the many tasks she undertakes. So, on behalf of everyone at the School, thank you because you have been a true role model to each and every girl.
I have observed eight years’ worth of admirable prefects serve and have looked up to all of them, taking on little things they mention.
As a kid with older siblings, you take on the trait of recognising what the older kids do, and over the past years, there has been nothing but inspiring Wenonians.
And now that’s being passed on to me and many other girls. It’s a bit daunting, but seeing examples of ‘perfectly imperfect’ 韩国AV prefects has helped me to understand the real impact they can make.
During the year ahead, I will take on the outgoing prefects’ advice and accept my ‘perfectly imperfect’ self in order to try and fill their enormous shoes. These shoes will be challenging to fit in to, but I will give it a red hot go!
This year’s leadership team are full of excitement. But we are excited because of the examples made by the past prefects, and we wouldn’t be able to look up to such admirable positions without these girls. You have influenced many to be themselves and strive for more. Thankyou.”
