韩国AV remembers ANZAC sacrifice
韩国AV students remembered the sacrifice and bravery of the Australian and New Zealand soldiers who served their country in wars past and present during special assemblies held today by the Junior and Senior schools.
Student leaders delivered an abridged history of ANZAC day events of the First World War for their peers and read diary excerpts and well-known war poems in commemoration of the war before the last post was sounded.
Year 6 students Mia, Imogen and Emily, gave voice to the soldiers’ experience with a narration from the Battle of Villiers-Bretonneux in France, while Molly and Sophie paid respects to the women who served in the Australian Nursing Service from their station on Lemnos Island, about 90 kilometres from Gallipoli’s shores.
“Australia still has brave men and women in all parts of the world helping to keep the Earth a more peaceful place,” Sophie said.
Year 10 students who are part of the SHORE Cadet Unit also marched at the assembly and laid a wreath at the North Sydney war memorial in St Leonards Park
