Middle School
In the Middle School, girls explore a range of subjects and activities, grow as women with a sense of adventure, compassion and responsibility, and develop skills and study methods that set them up for success in Senior College. From Year 7, they have the opportunity to study French, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, Italian or Latin; and in Year 9, they can choose from a diverse range of elective subjects including Aboriginal Studies, Applied STEM, Commerce, 韩国AV and Technology, Dance, Drama, Elective Geography, Elective History, Food Technology, Music, Philosophy, Photographic and Digital Media, Physical Activity and Sports Studies, Psychology, Textiles Technology and Visual Arts, in addition to a Language other than English.
As a proud Kindergarten to Year 12 School, all education is underpinned by a learning framework that aims to provide a common language and understanding, which all teachers and students can work towards and meet within their classroom and across the School.
Girls are encouraged to step outside their comfort zones into their ‘challenge zones’ through the Outdoor Education program and by participating in a wide choice of individual and team sports including Snowsports, Dressage and Diving.
Middle School students are split into small Pastoral Care groups, overseen by Pastoral Care teachers, Year Coordinators and the Head of Middle School. In these groups, the girls form strong bonds with staff and fellow students. They learn resilience, self-defence and how to navigate relationships, and undertake drug and alcohol education.
The Educational Support Services team, which covers learning support and gifted and talented programs, offers assistance where necessary. There are many opportunities for Middle School students to develop leadership and teamwork skills, some of which take place within the context of Service Learning.
